Getting married in a Tuscan Borgo

The Italian word Borgo is referring to a hamlet that in former times was a complete inhabited village and located in the countryside. Many of these former villages nowadays are charming holiday resorts. A borgo often dates back to the medieval and sometimes the original purpose of the single houses is still recognizable, as, for example, a house that once was the “school” of the village, the “scale” or the granary.

Beside the tourism, many borgo are working with agriculture, which mostly was the cause of their origin and is still an important part of the income source. The guest may find a cultivation of wine grapes, of olive groves, fruits, garden products and so on. This makes them very similar to the “Agriturismo” and indeed the difference is often only a very little one and determined by the main economical resource.

Some Borgo has become a true luxury hotel offering high standard guestrooms equipped with utmost comfort, while they do not offer any or only a few holiday apartments.

In any case, a Borgo nowadays is often a popular wedding venue and they offer the possibility to lodge all guests together and allow at the same time much privacy for the individuals.

Area: between Florence and Siena

This beautiful historical complex dates back to the14th century and is located in the north of Siena amidst the enchanting Tuscan landscape. It was restructured conserving its original medieval character and is combining the spaciousness of a luxurious holiday apartment complex with the full service of a 4 star luxury hotel.

The apartments, all with a surface of 40-160 square meters, differ from one another in their architecture and all are tastefully equipped with elegant interiors and a refined décor. The Borgo disposes of a nice swimming pool equipped with a sun terrace and a private tennis court. The restaurant, renowned for its Tuscan specialties, has a magical, elegant setting and a unique medieval ambience. It also has a well stocked wine bar and often guided wine tastings on site are offered. During the summer period, food is served on the terrace by the pool and sometimes the dinner is accompanied by romantic piano music.

Area:  Casentino

This Borgo lies in a beautiful setting in the green hills of the Casentino area. A romantic and refined retreat to celebrate your perfect day with the essence of Tuscan countryside, enjoying luxurious comfort.

AThe great property offers accommodation in exclusive villas and suites, all with private bathroom.   The whole hamlet is the result of a careful restoration by the owners’ family who restored this architectural jewel to its former glory, respecting the architectural tradition of the territory. The major part of the lodgings features wooden beams, stone fireplaces, and terracotta floors.

Various options are available for the outdoors or indoor wedding celebration:  The pool facilities, the Italian garden, and the large panoramic terrace are ideal for aperitifs, while the banquet can be planned in any area of ​​the facility.

Different halls are available for the wedding dinner and party, as the “Limonaia” with its large glass front that can be opened completely, offering a view on the well-tended park and the square in front of it.

The former granary that was restructured with high-quality materials into a large banquet hall and a further ideal hall for the party.  An Italian garden and the chapel complete the small village.

An avenue of Cypress leads to this beautiful, elevated location, within a few minutes drive from the main roads between Siena and Florence. It offers an incredible panorama of the surrounding vineyards and a medieval village nearby.

Sleeping places for up to 30/32 people are on-site, and further accommodations are in the immediate vicinity. Staying here offers a great opportunity to experience Tuscany as you imagine it: the typical Tuscan square with its ancient fountain, a small chapel, and the very well-kept, large outdoor areas with the panoramic pool, hammocks and lounge furniture that invite you to relax and enjoy everywhere.
